Why Golf is More Fun as a Group Activity

Like most other sports, golf is a game that is enjoyed best with others. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an avid golfer, playing with friends is what the game is all about. Let's take a look at why golf is more fun as a group activity.

Golf Games

Golf bets settled after the match. All in focus.

Golf is all about having fun and trying new things to improve your game. One of the best ways to do that is to play different games during the round. Whether it's a scramble or a best ball, playing a game adds a whole new level of fun to your round.

Post Round Drinks

For some people, their favorite hole is the 19th. It's no fun walking into the bar or grill by yourself after a boring round and then leaving for home on a sour note. Having a group of friends to talk to and laugh with will make you forget about your round so you can enjoy the rest of your day.

Meet New People

If your friends can't make it for a round, then you should always try to get paired up with some other single players. You can make new connections and even form friendships with people who you have never met before. Playing with new people will also help you focus more on your game as you don't want to embarrass yourself in front of others.

Play Better Golf

Playing golf alone is boring and can cause you to go through the motions rather than actually trying to do well. When you are in a group there is always that competitive spirit in each player whether they say it or not. Every player wants to do better than the person who hit before them.

Try tracking your rounds and see how you play by yourself and how you play with other people. My guess is that you will improve a few shots each round when you play golf with others.

Saves Money

Let's face it, golf can be an expensive hobby and believe it or not, playing with a group can save you money. This is especially true when it comes to food and beverage as many courses will offer lunch or dinner deals to groups of four or more. Check in with the pro shop as well and ask about any deals they offer if you book more than two foursomes.

Golf Vacations

If you haven't taken a golf vacation, you should try. They are extremely fun and can give you memories that will last for the rest of your life. It gives you a chance to get away from the real world and enjoy nothing but golf, great food and friends.

Think about it, have you ever heard of a single person taking a golf trip? Find a group of friends and pick a destination that everyone will enjoy.

Try New Equipment

The more players you have the more golf clubs there are. Most players will let you try out a club on the course if they aren't overprotective of their equipment. This is a great way to try out a new driver or putter that you were thinking about buying.

Talking Trash

There's nothing better than giving your buddy a tough time after he or she hits a bad shot. It loosens up the group and gives everyone a few laughs. The great thing about golf is that there are so many different things that you can make jokes about. From someone's putting to the way they dress, it's all fair game. Just remember not to talk trash to a group of people you just met...
